Name:
Cyrilla Venizelos
Nickname/s:
None
Birth Date:
December 22nd, 2000
Blood Status:
Pureblood
Appearance:
Time spent in the sun plus Greek genes resulted in a medium tan to match her long, brown hair and dark brown eyes. When down and straight, her hair would reach her shoulder blades. However, waves and frizz being too much trouble, she generally just pulls the whole mess into a ponytail, keeping it both out of the way and looking less unruly. Barely hitting four feet in height, she is short even for her age. Just athletic enough to heading towards an unfeminine build as an adult, she has more muscle than might be expected of a girl her age, but not enough that she looks like a weight-lifter.

Personality:
She has a tendency to suck up to authority, acting as innocent as she can to those who have yet to catch her gambling. With those nearer her own age, she alternates between friendly and bossy, being quite willing to tell older students what to do. Somewhat like her patronus, she rates her own status by how many friends she has around her, as long as they will back her up. The type of child who does not seem to have a concept of a distinction between fantasy and reality, she tells lies more often than the truth. Bluffing and gambling come easily, yet people skills do not. Her friends tend to consist largely of those impressed by her bragging or who enjoy games as much as she does.
However, unable to recognize her own faults, she is still social and outgoing, attempting to make friends with anyone she sees. Of course, anyone willing to befriend her will hear a lot about both muggle and wizard games, gambling, and her own supposed accomplishments. Some things stemmed from truth, at least, starting with her real life, then branching off into something much more interesting but not at all accurate. When bored by a conversation, she tends to simply try to end it, not grasping any connection between others' behaviors and her own.
As conceited as her parents, she sees figures of authority as being above her only because of age and tends to ignore their advice and orders when she can do so without it being noticed. After all, aggravating them only made them pay more attention to her as a source of trouble. Happy with a deck of cards or a chess board and someone to play with, she sees school as a socializing environment rather than as a place to learn and often refuses to pay attention in classes she considers boring.
History:
Her parents were both wizards from Greece who decided to move to England to get married and start a family. They saw no way that any child of theirs could not be a wizard, so for each they planned a visit to Greece for wand shopping well in advance of the letter from Hogwarts, scheduled so that the letter would arrive before the wand purchase.
Raised with this mix of nationalism and general conceitedness, Cyrilla was excited on all visits to her parents' home country, especially the one in which she was brought shopping after the arrival of her Hogwarts letter. Specifically, the purpose was for a wand with a core not found in western Europe. After having seen her siblings enter and leave the wand store, it was finally her turn.
As a young child, she befriended a classmate whose parents were avid falconers. They imported, bred, and raised multiple species of birds, sometimes even going as far as bringing them across the continent just to test out a hunting method. The creatures fascinated a young Cyrilla, who spent as much time over there as possible. Knowing that childhood was her only chance to socialize with muggles before graduating school, her parents were very lenient.
As if she was their own child, she learned how to care for the birds, how to train them, how to hunt with them. When the day came that she had to tell her friend that she was going off to a boarding school and would only be back in the summers, but hinted that the school allowed pets, the parents were quickly convinced to hand over the gyrfalcon she had been helping to train as a parting gift. So falcons were not on the allowed list. They were close enough to owls, right? Maybe she could convince them it was a snowy owl.
Inside school, however, she found an interest in anything that made her think. Games, puzzles, even schoolwork. However, the games, once she got a feel for them, were boring. It did not take long for her to discover the world of gambling and come up with complicated schemes for the children to gamble in school without getting caught by the teachers. Despite leaving behind these friends, she brought as many games -- both muggle and wizard -- as she could with her to Hogwarts.
Family:
Mother; father; siblings of unspecified number, genders, and ages; and probably some cousins -- if anyone wants to play one, feel free to ask, but do not expect me to provide names. XD
Roleplay Sample:
The teacher had to leave the room for just a minute, but it was long enough. The deck of cards was out, waving in the air to gather attention. A sheet of paper soon followed with a pencil, ready for her newest betting plan. Names would be written down, with bet amounts under them like an innocent scoresheet. "Who wants to play?"
Hopefully by the time the teacher walked back in, they would already have a game going, and she might let them continue it -- after all, it kept the kids entertained. Cyrilla grabbed her seat at the table, waiting for anyone to take her up on her offer. It had already been a week since she had last been caught gambling, and the new plan was better, anyway.
Nevermind that she got more detentions in a week than most of her classmates got in a year, it would work this time! Anyway, this was her last year, and it was almost over. She needed to win a stash of spare money before she went off to a new school where she would have to start over from scratch.
