Arianne sighed. She looked at the cat and at her scrawny little rat.
She shrugged and wasen't really suprised by Mr. Martin. He was being his flamboyant self. Just like always. She went to go greet him.
"Mr. Martin! How's it goin'? Nice mop! I like it." She complimented. [Frag! SO SHORT!]

Ayden smiled as Sem replied to him. He was glad he didn't go on about his summer. However, when he turned around to talk to others, his lips went into a thin line. Although he could talk to others, Sem couldn't. He'd have to remind him of that later. He smiled at the mop, and Martin. "You're looking quite well Martin." he cooed at him. Martin wasn't his type, but Ayden knew it would bug Sem more than anything. Not to mention, he was a hormonal 16 year old. He flirted with any guy that moved honestly. "And I'm good."

Martin's pleased grin seemed to spread from ear to ear at the sight of all these new faces and all their quirks and conversations. He seemed even more so pleased, (or possibly just amused) when the young first-year Cyrila asked if he was a professor. Such an inquiry brought forth a hearty chortle that seemed to rattle his whole form. "Me? Nah! I'm just the janitor, or the caretaker, whatever you wanna call me. I love cards as well by the way" he said with a wink.
The cheerful gents attention was then caught by the rather quiet Mr. Seamus, who also received the same loud and boisterous greetings as the rest. "Heya, Seam!" He almost bellowed, very unaware of the fact he was probably making a scene. Something which wasn't improved when both Arianne and Ayden joined the merry greeting party as it were.
"It goes well-oh the mop, thankyou!" He added hastily, brandishing his chosen 'weapon' as if it were some mighty artifact. "I call her Tracey!" Martin joked with another exaggerated wink. In response to Ayden however he grew somewhat quiet for a moment, his cheeks seeming to redden, it took a moment before he regained his composure. "Thankyou!" He settled with as a reply, and resigned to chuckle embarrassedly from there-on.

Kallie, better known as Miss Miller around the schoolgrounds, stepped off the train with a bird cage in her right hand and a rolling luggage in the other. The bird cage was uncovered, revealing a tawny barn owl that couldn't seem to keep his beak shut.
The new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher was clad in her robes and held herself proudly, looking proper like a teacher should and very professional. At least, she would've looked professional if it were not for the owl that seemed to be incapable of staying quiet. He was a very vocal owl; named Flynn with an affinity for shiny objects. With every loud RAW! he gave he seemed to attract more attention than he was worth.
Kallie's expression remained composed as she rolled her luggage just behind her, but this changed as she pulled off to the side. Unless interrupted, she'd kneel to pull something from the topmost pocket of her luggage, a cracker. She poked it through the bars of the cage at the bird, who eagerly snatched it up before giving a much quieter RAW! at her.
"Trying to mess up my first day already, Flynn?" She questioned quietly before rising to her full height.

So the mop had been an indicator of his profession. However, he was also the only person who responded to her question. That was a bit disappointing if it was representative of what she would find in the rest of the school. The sound of an owl, however, made her jump and completely pushed the previous conversations from her mind.
Such a noisy bird! The school really preferred those uncivilized creatures to falcons? Spinning around, she quickly noticed that the one holding the cage was also certainly too old to be a student. A robe, no colorful cleaning instruments... This one was probably a professor. "That's a cute owl!" The other students did not seem to want to socialize much with her, so she would try to make friends with some of the teachers before classes started instead.
By the end of her sentence, she had made her way closer to the creature's owner, trying to get a better look and showing more interest than she really felt. Well, one thing did interest her: this one proved that her own cage was clearly beyond the size of one for an owl. That could turn into a problem. However, it had not so far, so she pushed it from her mind. "Are you a professor? What class do you teach?" Positive that she was getting good at identifying school staff, she did not bother to wait for an answer to the former before adding on the latter -- she was positive the first answer would be yes, and how could she be wrong?

The boy looked down, crestfallen. Sure, Martin helped, but anyone who wasn't used to Seamus and his general downcast nature could discover on their own that he was almost always depressed-looking. Socrates, seeming rather concerned, gave a murring sound and brushed his master's cheek with his forehead. At that, Seamus cheered up only slightly, but kept his mouth shut and tried to blend in. Which failed, as he was a rather tall student and his odd-eyed pet didn't help much.
His gaze was drawn to a teacher and, seeking a relief from the others for the time being, Sem hurried over, ignoring Socrates' panic at the sudden quick movements. The black tomcat dug his claws into his master's robes and mewed his displeasure, but Seamus was already near the teacher. He extended a hand. "Seamus Hayen, Ravenclaw Seeker." When all else failed, be friendly and flaunt your status. It was pretty cool that they made Sem seeker, for his speed mainly.
[OOC: Gettin' some Socrates in thur. :3]

Arianne smiled. She walked off with the croud. She looked back at Mr. Martin. "You and Tracey have a good day, okay?" She laughed and sent an exaggerated wink back at him.
She stopped and decided she should wait for the new girl. What was her name again? Oh yes! Cyrilla. She saw her talking to a lady who looked young but too old to be a student with a loud bird that she couldent tell what it was. She spotted Sem also there. She ran to them. It was clear now that the lady, looking so proffesional, was a teacher, and that the bird was an owl. "What a beautiful owl, what is his name?" Arianne asked. "What class are you teaching?" She added. It looked like DADA (xDDD) To her but she just wanted to be sure.
She smiled and looked at Sem. She noticed he looked as if that happiness of his was a complete fake. She also noticed how cute he was. She blushed lightly as she thought of that and looked away, back at the owl. She crouched down. She continued hiding her rat. Owls eat rats for breakfast. She shivered. She looked at the owl again and smiled. She kinda wished she had a pet owl. She shook her head. That wouldent be good to think. I'm loyal to my little Jiyu. And only Jiyu. She reminded herself. She followed the head movements of the owl. That was always how she befriended birds. She knew she probably looked wierd doing so, but though she usually cared what other people thought of her, this time it passed right through her. [*Admires the length of her post*]

Kallie gave a slight smile at the student who complimented Flynn, nodding in thanks as the owl cocked it's head at the students. As they approached, she'd put on a friendlier grin in an attempt to appeal to her new students. Didn't want to come off as a no-nonsense teacher now did she (then again, if she was that sort then she would've sold the noisy owl a long time ago)?
"Yes," she answered to the first girl. "I'm Miss Miller, teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts this year. And who might you be?"
She found herself suddenly the center of attention, faced with three students. At least she'd get to know them a bit better beforehand. Though given students didn't show their true colors until the second or third week of school.
Kallie took the boy that approached her's hand and shook firmly when it was offered to her. "Nice to meet you Seamus. Miss Miller, Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher." she could flaunt her position too, she thought.
The next approached and was also given her trademark smile. "Thanks. His name's Flynn. And Defense Against the Dark Arts."
She caught that grin and blush of the second girl's too, both directed in Seamus' direction. Silently to herself she remarked that it seemed she fancied him.
Meanwhile Flynn would view those that had approached and give occasional "RAW!"s, keeping his eye on the second girl. He seemed to have an inkling that a rat was around...
